I'll be expecting to be called out around Thanksgiving if I'm wrong, but I predict that the inaugural game is the high-water mark for attendance this season and that the season average home attendance for the other 5 home games will be less than half of the 57K they drew yesterday. Maybe far less.

Granted, it is football (and understand that I looooove the notion that the Alamodome has a tenant again) but I've seen the small crowds UTSA draws for basketball, even when they have good teams. San Antonio's support for UTSA is an inch deep.

For now, let's just savor the fact that this team notched an impressive win for its first time out of the chute.

56,000 people? I think that answers the question right there. Just doing the math, in the seventh largest city in the U.S., located in South Central Texas, and it's the ONLY D1 college program? I really think the numbers are on UTSA's side. It helps that they play in the Alamodome. The campus is a little isolated.

A nice, big stadium will be built on 1604. I saw the architect's drawings and it is very impressive!

I'm glad the Alamodome is getting some more use, though.

I'll be happy with 28k. 35k would make me VERY happy.

That said, the atmosphere at the game was INCREDIBLE! I'm hoping the enthusiasm of the game will continue and positively affect the other sports. I can easily see attendance during basketball season jumping up 10% as they market the "NCAA tournament qualifying" team and suggest that students "continue the fun of joining your friends at a game".

UT had 101k at their game on Saturday. While UTSA football is still new, I thought the dome would have a better turn out.

What major network carried the game? How much money was generated from the advertising? How do ticket prices and other associated costs compare to going to an NFL game?

I'm glad the Alamo Dome has another paying tenant but I don't think this will have much, if any, bearing on whether San Antonio gets an NFL franchise.

The name of the Game is NFL, and San Antonio CAN NOT support a team.
I hope UTSA does good, but is not the same. People want to see OU, UT, Notre Dame, LSU, Oregon, etc, etc. and none of those teams play in the SouthLand Conference.
