I was driving up Wurzbach and then turned right on Blanco and saw another plume of black smoke seeming coming from 281. Anyone know what this is? I saw this at 5pm today....

There's currently a grass fire at Camp Stanley, next to Camp Bullis and a major warehouse fire on Perrin-Beitel at Industrial Center Rd.

Last edited by Bo; 09-06-2011 at 04:36 PM.. Reason: updated info about which camp has the fire.

Honest question - have there been any determinations on where any of these fires started? (Pardon my ignorance about it, just don't know if I've missed any info.)

AND - I for one would whole heartedly support a HUGE penalty for any person throwing a cigarette butt outta their car during dry times like these!! We're only a coupla streets over from 1604, so I'm a little paranoid.

Yesterday's fire in Stone Oak was started by an overheated vehicle owned by SAWS whose employee driver was doing maintenance work in a grassy area. SAWS will probably compensate the owner of the townhouse that was damaged by the fire and that settlement will ultimately be paid for by us SAWS ratepayers.

More details here.

Thanx Bo!! I heard briefly about the SAWS truck, but only enough to think that it was related to the SO fire, not the cause.

On Peirrin Beitel? But it was so close to Churchill HS that I thought it had to be Stone Oak starting up again.

https://webapps1.sanantonio.gov/activefire/ shows the city has 39 fire units at the Perrin Beitel fire and still has units at the Stone Oak fire location. Camp Stanley is not in the city.
