Story sounds odd to me as well. Was he supposed to be home at a certain time and was late? So out comes the no phone, no ride, police stopped me...

I will have to agree with others that something sounds a little off.

I have never had an issue with our Police Department and am glad they are stopping individuals who are out at all hours of the night. If I am out, I have no problem with them stopping and questioning me!

Hopefully one day people will wake up and stand their ground and say "It is not acceptable to be groped at airports, it is not acceptable to be frisked with no due process (4th amendment)". In this country we have presumption of innocence. Most people seem to be completely ignorant of it because they have watched on too many episodes of cops. If the cop thought your husband's conduct was suspect, he could have "stayed vigilant and near-by", being preemptive is unconstitutional.

Talk to an attorney, hit them where it hurts, it is time to take our country back, we will not let the "bad people" dictate the way we live, we will not continue to be afraid and let the fear control how we live.

Remember Franklin... "They, who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

If talking to an attorney is really necessary it would be the fiance that should be talking and my guess is, he will not.

Obviously you have never been in a country that was a real police state, because if you had you would realize what a ridiculous statement that is!

Actually, I for one would be very interested in what an attorney would advise him to do...

But I believe you are correct, he won't because he really doesn't have any legal recourse.

If you think the police doing their job means this country is "B-E-C-O-M-I-N-G" a police state, then the comment "Duh!" from you is very apropos!

If anything, with the use of dash cameras, GPS tracking of officers via their equipment, and the threat of being videotaped by every bozo with a smart phone, and the potential of this country "B-E-C-O-M-I-N-G" a police state is actually decreasing!

Have an honest talk to a seasoned police officer one day, and they will admit that they could get away with a lot more before technology became rampant in their duties.

And the word is "ridiculous," not "rediculous!"

I find myself in the rare position of agreeing with Sapphire, but, yeah, this thread is totally weird.

Anyways, to the OP, for what it's worth, I live in MV, and on 2 different occasions, I've had cops pull over and ask me what's going on. I've lived on the same street for 9 years. In both cases, I was walking, and it was dark. I responded by being friendly, polite, letting them know I was walking to my home in the neighborhood. The vast majority of police/cops (although not all) will be respectful and polite if you are.

I tend to be pretty left-of-center politically, but I have no problem with the police taking this sort of pro-active approach in my neighborhood (especially considering I've had my truck broken into twice in the middle of the night).

You didnt point out my other typo. BTW - I dated a police officer for over a year, so I know what goes on. There are good officers and bad officers.
There are also posters who have to have the last word..I dont see any typos here.

Sorry - but having "dated one for over a year" doesn't even begin to give you a realistic insight. Not hammering at you, but it takes a long time for a cop to really let their guard down w/someone - it just comes with the territory.
