I'm looking to buying a house in castle hills. Do you think that area will hold up in value. If not. What other areas in central San Antonio under 200k are nice?

I think Castle Hills is a lovely area. I also think the Oak Hollow subdivisions are good.... check zip 78232, especially subdivisions that feed into Coker Elem.

Do schools matter? Nimitz, Jackson and Lee are not the best middle and high school options in NEISD, but they're the public middle and high schools for Castle Hills.

castle hills is indeed a nice neighborhood. the police there are a bit overzealous in pulling people over for minor infractions though

I listed and sold a house in Castle Hills area last month for about $190,000. I had more calls off that listing than all my others combined and sold it in 7 days. That to me says that there are constantly people looking in there for homes, so it really should hold value for a while. Just make sure you buy it right. If you find something for under $200k, make sure you're ready to jump on it, because they go fast. The house I sold wasn't even in Castle Hills proper. It was a block off.

It's super convenient to everything on the northside. Within 5 minutes, without traffic (15 tops in traffic) to 10 and 281 and within another few from 1604 if you go down NW miltary. If it didn't hold its value it would have gone downhill a long time ago.

I went to Jackson & Lee they weren't that bad. It was a little rough but they're still good schools. I know some classmates who went on to Harvard and other prestigious colleges. This is a great area of SA and you can easily to get to downtown.

Schools don't matter to me because our daughter is at a private school. 174k for a house in castle hills proper. I may consider this more seriously

Nimitz MS is sort of terrible, but I thought Eisenhower MS served Castle Hills along with Churchill HS. I had a friend who I went to Jackson Keller ES with and she lived in Castle Hills. She ended up going to Eisenhower and I went to the dreaded Nimitz. I am most certainly glad I didn't go to Churchill though. The kids there are mean. My mother's friend's son was beat up there because he was black and dating a white girl. Their girl's basketball team had no problem with elbowing their opponents; the same was true with the Eisenhower basketball team.
