That area you describe, especially Nacogdoches, is reported to be one of the north side's highest crime areas. Maybe the copter's orbiting there to respond quickly to calls in the area?

It's relatively close to the airport, maybe just holding for traffic or landing.

While the SAPD Blue Eagle will orbit an area under some circumstances, it would not be this constant based on what we were briefed at the CPA. Do you ever see the aircraft? Any chance it has a bright spotlight?

Could it be news copters or even medical flights, or even possibly Alamo Helicopter Tours out of Stinson Airfield?

Thanks for your replies guys. No, i have never looked out the window to it but I know the sound of a helicopter, and i know what it sounds like when it eventually moves from the area, it sounds like it will hover around in circles and then hover away to where I can no longer hear it.
It's not every night, but it's every other night.
could be medical, news or a police helicopter.

It just gets irritating when you try to sleep at night and it sounds like a helicopter is gonna land on your roof!

If it's the police helicoptor, a lot of times you can see the searchlight when they're looking for somebody.

If it's any consolation, you'll get used to the noise. I used to live in the medical center area and there was constant helicoptor traffic there, along with sirens. When I moved, it used to bother me that it was so quiet at night...I really had gotten used to sleeping with all that racket going on.
