It cracks me up. The legend is spread by word of mouth like any other urban legend. Its always "I heard it from a good source, My buddy (mom , uncle, neighbor ect.) works for ... and they got the contract for "insert service here" no one is sposed to know but its Disney! they are coming!" Twice since I've been here in town have I heard this same retelling of the legend with similar twists and turns. The article quoted Dennis Speigel "Disney will build a theme park on the moon before they build one in San Antonio" next rumor "When Disney finishes the moon theme park they will break ground in San Antonio"

Thanks for posting, Paka! I missed seeing that in the paper. This whole "Disney in San Antonio" is wishful thinking - and the idea of it actually happening is a statement to the "dream" that Walt planted back in his beginnings. Should we keep dreaming?

Nothing wrong with continuing to dream. Maybe something like the Disney Vacation Club is more feasible, though.

thing is, the intense interest and levels of excitement this has caused may actually get Disney's attention...

While I'm glad they sorta squashed the rumour, I was most upset by the comment of the Texas Travel guy at the end (sorry, I don't have the article in front of me). He stated something to the effect of..."we have pearls in Six Flags and Sea World, we don't need Disney". WHAT? Disney lovers would contend that Disney would be a jewel added to those gems. I think it would be great because unlike the other parks, Disney is open all the time. We certainly have the population to support such a park.
In the article it also states we don't have the land for it. Huh? If you've driven Texas like I have. You can clearly see room for Disney and people would flock, fly, drive, or ride their horses to it!
I've always known it was an urban legend, most likely perpetuated by Disney lovers like myself who dare to dream.

I think the best thing to do is to dissolve Fiesta Texas and make it a satellite extension of Disney World. It does not have to be big. I really can't see the benefit of having 3 theme parks (Sea World, Fiesta Texas, Disney) in one city the size of SA.

It was in the Business Section. I read through it looking to see if City-Data would be mentioned as there is a lengthy thread already on this topic.
