It's not a first, buffyfan, I agree that in San Antonio people tend to really circle their wagons here. Maybe not in you but it's very noticeable here.

Sounds to me as though you're judging all of SA by the people with whom you are surrounded when fulfilling your familial obligation. Do yourself a favor, stay home and tell your family you can't visit.

use a little self control the next time your at Rudys BBQ and waddle out to the procession route when one of our fallen military heroes comes home. the outpouring of support should tell you what type of town this is... recently two MARINES from completely different backgrounds both earned a large outpouring of respect and thanks from this community ....... im sure where your from under similar circumstances the streets are jam packed by your "great neighbors"

Really? Where?
While compiling your excessive list, please also compare the size of our law enforcement community relative to our population in Bexar County and see if it exceeds the normal threshold of people arrested vs. a community of our size.

Calling my weight and patriotism into question because you don't like my observations? Individual personal attacks are an indicator of a very weak argument...in your case, no argument at all. And yep, we definitely honor our soldiers here. And what is the point of bringing patriotism into the discussion anyway....Oooooohhhhhh we are better because we love our soldiers more. Are you four? Speaking the truth about SA has nothing to do with being Patriotic. And by the way,I'm originally from SC. We actually sent two of our HEROES (William Travis and James Bonham) who died there at the Alamo. So don't think you have the market cornered there on patriotism and love of country.
And lastly, I'm an active, outdoorsy person with no weight issues. SC and Texas are both listed in the top 10 of fattest states in the US, 28.4 and 28.1% respectively. So no, we aren't "fatter" folks in general either.

No, I have worked on assignments in SA as well as engaged in both social and political activities there. The family stuff is fine....my husband only has 8 or 10 relatives left there in total. My observations were based upon seeing, supposedly, the best and the brightest up and coming biz people and politicians in the area. Most of DH relatives left for Virginia, California or other areas with more opps years ago.

I guess you don't know the golden rule:
