I learnt to dive in England, then moved to Florida where I had to take a test which was the biggest joke 5 minutes in a car park !!!! My test in the UK lasted 45 minutes on the roads with rush hour traffic. Driving in SA is a nightmare do the people here know what an indicator is ? and the worst thing is when someone is in the left lane pootling along at 5o and talking on their phone !!! then they get upset if you honk at them to move !!!

I'm supposing the reason your US test was so short is that you did already know how to drive and had a UK license. People getting their first (ever) license here go through quite a bit.

I have driven in many cities and it's my opinion that Miami has the worst drivers. I couldn't wait to get out of there. I was suprised at how courteous LA drivers are, pedestrians are king there. I had to slam on my breaks for people crossing where as other drivers would stop on a dime no problem.

I've been thinking of making a thread like this, especially driving 1604 between Potranco and 90. I'd love to hear from anyone that drives that part in the left lane going the speed limit.. I realize that is technically legal and technically the correct thing to do, but why do you do it?? That part of the loop is brand new with two very nice lanes of traffic and going 55 is just crazy hard to do, especially for those of us with cars that feel more comfortable at 75 than 55..
I swear I have to work around left lane drivers every morning and afternoon and they always get mad when you go around them.. This makes absolutely no sense and I'd love to hear someones explanation for it.. I think it's all the internet cops out on the road personally. The people that try to play policeman in forums and try to force everyone on the road to drive the speed limit. There's real policemen for that job (and mod's for the other), so y'all can find another job please....
BTW, I work with a self admitted left lane driver who actually told all of us at work that we don't need to be driving faster than him... needless to say I can't post any of the names we called him on this board....

Speaking of pedestrians......just FYI....Jaywalking is not illegal in San Antonio. Just beware...especially downtown....people will cross the street at any random moment.

oh well......

People who drive the speed limit in the left lane shouldn't be so self-righteous; they are ignoring the "slower traffic keep right" rule. Oh, and there is also the occasional "left lane for passing only" one.

my kids both just got their license and it's a joke, at least it is when you're over 18.. all they had to do was pass a simple test and go driving through a neighborhood for about 10 minutes.
It explained quite a bit... I'm originally from Michigan and had to take an entire semester long class, complete at least 100 hours in the simulator and do driving tests for three days and they were real tests in the real world..
