If you hit him and are a commercial driver then you have some issues to
deal with.

Your objective as a commercial driver is to deliver your loads safely from
point A to B and to protect your livelihood which is tied to your license and
driving record.

Going the speed limit in either lane is ok, in fact isn't that the law?

I hope you do this to an unmarked police car someday.

I totally agree with you. What's wrong with doing the speed limit on the left lane? Just because YOU want to break the law going 80 or more like most people do, I have to do it also?. They heck with you and your impatience. I'm going to do the speed limit ok? I'm not going to break the law for anyone. Besides, I have seen what happens to people when they are speeding and end up mangled or dead, like the guy that was crushed by his truck when it rolled over him, as he got partially ejected. I saw this dead guy right in front of me, so that kind of stuff really impacts you. And don't tell me that you are a great driver, have abs, airbags, yada, yada yada... None of that crap will be of much use when you drive too fast buddy. The laws of physics will take over.

What's wrong with getting over into the right lane so that people can go faster than you? I'm not advocating speeding, but if you're purposefully holding up traffic by refusing to move out of the left lane, you are exacerbating the problem.

Texas State Law
Sec. 545.051.(b) An operator of a vehicle on a roadway moving more slowly than the normal speed of other vehicles at the time and place under the existing conditions shall drive in the right-hand lane available for vehicles, or as close as practicable to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway, unless the operator is:
(1) passing another vehicle; or
(2) preparing for a left turn at an intersection or into a private road or driveway.

Now, in layman's terms, that means it is not legal to hang in the left lane unless you are passing. BLUF, unless you are passing, get right. If you are in the left lane, regardless of speed, and you are NOT passing, you are breaking the law.

We are not "speeding" in the left lane at 75-80 mph. That's a self-righteous pile of steaming excrement. We are DRIVING at an appropriate rate for conditions if there are few cars in the left lane & maximizing efficient traffic flow.

The pathetic revenue generators better leave us alone! Unless there's a valid excusr like fog.

How can you say it is appropriate for the conditions... when we don't
know what the conditions will be at the time?

Conditions change... thus the need for some thinking when behind the
wheel.

The problem starts when people are speeding past the posted speed limit (or going way too slow)...not because you are going the posted speed limit.

In a perfect world, everyone would go the speed limit, but we all know that is not possible.

For those of you that constantly speed, if you do the math on just how much time you save (especially in lanes with traffic lights)...you will find that speeding saves you very little time. It just isn't worth it.

Example: You are going the speed limit in the right lane and come up behind someone going 5 mph slower. At the same time, there is someone in the left lane going the speed limit. There should be no problem passing in this situation because you know the person in the left lane will go past the slower car in the right lane...therefore you can pass as well. Easy, right? Well not in today's world unfortunatly..people don't think logically anymore.

Meh this wouldn't be an issue if y'all would just realize that 1604 only has 2 lanes - the right lane is for y'all, the left lane is for the HillCountryHotRodMan.
