Right now is just the darned worst. Lots of old people feel safer on the less crowded roads so you'll get people straddling lanes 20 mph below the speed limit on big streets Bandera or drifting around 410 during rush hour. Do that at 10am when the contributing members of society are at work, kthx.

Seeing a lot of latch key kids driving mom's sedan around neighborhoods while she's at work lately, too...

Yes, said truck...

- lifted high enough a Mini could drive underneath
- super large tires that could crush a Mini
- front brush guard with winch
- rollbar with lights mounted in the bed
- gun rack mounted in the rear window

...used 95% of the time for driving around town.

And have never seen mud or a old farm road since it was modded out.

Yeah I'm sure that's the reason

I think it's the feeling of entitlment. "If I have a bigger car (excuse me, TRUCK) then you, you should move out of my way" is the mentality. It sure doesn't help that there's more trucks on the road then cars. Oh well, it's Texas. My next vehicle is going to be a lifted F250 so I can show all you tiny-car owners up! Haha just kidding People just got to be more curteous and read up on the rules of the road every now and then.

Just had dinner tonight with some good friends who live in the DC area, we asked them if they thought driving was bad here and they just laughed, and then proceeded to tell us horror stories about what they have to endure on a daily basis...

I doubt we have anywhere near the worst drivers. But, certainly some of the most lawless.

Vehicle insurance premiums are high here for a reason...

- large number of uninsured motorists
- increased risk of collision due to poor driving skills
- high cost of modern vehicle repair

The chances of having an expensive vehicle repair event that will need
to be covered by insurance are increased by the first two in the list above.

I don't need to hear about horror stories or comparisons to other cities. I see
what is happening right here and the live demonstrations of poor driving that
can lead to collisions on a daily basis.

One very simple example...

The propensity of drivers in this area to NOT signal their directional
intentions.

Some of them even have the audacity to visibly express their frustration
when others don't get out of their way fast enough. If they let us know
which direction they are moving in then perhaps we too can move.

Sorry, but the drivers here are bad... and I'm not going to get into the
"well they are not as bad as <insert city here> game"... because that
just doesn't make driving conditions HERE any better for anyone.
