Planning on visiting San Antonio Thanksgiving weekend (Thursday-Sunday).
Whats there to do there in the fall? Is Sea World or any other attraction open?
We are planning on staying at the Omni Hotel. Any other recommendations?

Sea World is open weekends in Nov. plus they're open all of Thanksgiving week. Fiesta TX is open limited hours Fri, Sat and Sun of that week. The zoo is open every day and our zoo is best visited in the fall or winter. There are some museums here too if that's your thing...SAMA, the Witte, the McNay.

Which of the two Omni are you staying? if downtown, then you can do a lot of strolling around, including the River Walk. If you are staying at the other one (Northwest side) then you pretty much have to drive anywhere.

If you like shopping, you can go to La Cantera, which is an open, upscale mall, great during the fall. Right next to Fiesta Texas. Or, drive to San Marcos to the outlets...pretty big, so you can easily spend the whole day.

If you like driving, I would recommend some of the towns in the Hill Country, either along 281 north or along 10 or 35 north. Like Boerne, Groene, Blanco, etc.

If you are flying here, I would decide as soon as possible, as airfare is fixin' to go through the roof.

The holiday parade on the river is the day after Thanksgiving. It's always a great time and it's so beautiful! Link: 11-25-2011 - Events - The Official Website of The San Antonio River Walk

I am planning on staying at the Omni that is close to the River Walk.. I was told that is a decent place to stay for the money $87/night. Any other suggestions?
I am actually driving from Dallas with family (6 year old and 2 year old).

God forbid if we suggest you drive a few miles down the road outside of town because "That's not IN San Antonio".

I wanted to edit my post above, but can't anymore. I was just going to suggest that if you decide to do the holiday parade, you might want to go to the link I provided up-thread and look into buying tickets.

It's a ton of fun. We usually go but somehow my husband suckered me into spending that weekend at the coast. Pretty sure he asked me about it after my all-day class on Saturday when my brain was on hiatus...

Enjoy your stay!

With a 2 and 6 year old, I highly recommend the SA Children's museum on Houston St. My kids also really enjoy hopping on the trolley and going until we see something interesting- which usually doesn't take long. There's a ton of neat stuff to keep you guys occupied on the trolley routes.

Two extremely kid and grown up friendly dining options: The Friendly Spot just south of downtown and The Cove just north of downtown. Outdoor playgrounds and great food/crowd/music can be found in both places. Enjoy your visit!
