I figured the ex californians would like the humidity for their over processed hair. helps it not look so dried out, and believe me when the extensions come out, it's not pretty.

I've lived here for years, and this year has been the worst for humidity I have ever seen....obviously from all the rain. I have a dampness problem in one area of my house and also went out to get a de-humidfier. I had the same experience in trying to find one! Bed Bath and Beyond kept telling me they had "humidifiers" but they are only sold during winter when static builds up! I told the manager they were missing out on a big market if they stocked them and then ADVERTISED! Home Depot, Walmart, Target....none of them had them. I finally found one for $150 at Lowes. Crazy they are not hot sellers even during a normal year.

I noticed in Houston, that the hotel had a built in de-humidifier! FINALLY....someone with brains is watching the regional needs!

Yikes, Houston!!! They need a MAJOR dehumidifier, don't they? Like encapsulate the entire city and run a dehumidifier??? LOL... (I am attending a class there in September and I dread it; although clearly the majority of my time will be spent indoors. But isn't the late summer/early fall the WORST time??

Default Big Honkin' Bugs

Mariposa,

I'm from Orange County, and we're moving to SA (Helotes, actually) in about a year. However, since my husband and I both have family there, we hit Texas every Christmas and every summer. We were in Three Rivers with my in-laws in July, and I was APPALLED at the bugs and snakes and such this year. WAY out of proportion for normal. I suspect it's the rain that's either breedin' 'em bigger or chasing 'em out of hiding. Snakes, flying roaches, dung beetles, wasps, hornets, scorpions, mosquitos, crickets, locusts, cicadas, and about 8 billion fireflies (I'm okay with those

As a native of Southern California, and a girl, I don't do well with bugs and humidity. But fear not. It will get better. (Of course, summer just HAS to happen every year ...

And then... somewhere in October, you will be wandering around at noon in shorts and a tank top in 92 degree weather, and a cold front will blow through leaving you LITERALLY shivering at 12:10 in 48 degree weather. It's actually really cool and a welcome change from the heat and humidity.

It all becomes bearable eventually, but I have to admit - I have yet to get used to the visible mustache on women thing. That's just so wrong...
