Indeed. Counties to the south/east have lifted their bans though.

Same thing they did in July.

I certainly hope San Antonio and the surrounding areas stay banned from burning fireworks. I can not think of a more Neanderthal activity to celebrate a holiday. I still find it embarrassing as an American that so many are entertained by colorful sparks thrust into the air. It just reaffirms the fact that we as a society and as a nation are getting less intelligent by the minute.

Ummm..I guess you have never been out of the country, as fireworks are used across the globe to celebrate holidays. In Germany New Year's Eve is called Silvester and it makes firework efforts here look like snap caps!

I've also spent New Year's Eve in such interesting places as Bratislava, Slovakia; Vienna, Austria; Ipswich, UK and several places in Germany and similar celebrations take place...

I agree that some are getting less intelligent by the minute, but I believe it is the ignorant who are doing so. While fireworks should not be allowed when there is an increased potential for causing fires (e.g. during burn bans), I see no problems in allowing them under normal conditions if they are used safely and within reason.

Cheers! M2
