My hair is relaxed and all my own- I don't wear braids, extensions or weave. I have found many places that do that, but very few that can simply give a decent haircut, much less a decent relaxer. I would like to eventually go natural but from what I've been told it's a much easier process with a good stylist to help out along the way. I've been to K. Charles (because I had a great experience with an Aveda salon in NC), Nappy Roots and a few just random franchise type places. Haven't been happy with the results at those places. They didn't necessarily mess up my hair, but they didn't do what I aked either, and when I tried to explain they still didn't get it right. My haircut is very simple, but needs careful trimming because of extensive breakage. Does anyone have a place they swear by? I'm willing to travel if need be... I live in northeast SA.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

I transitioned on my own without the "big cut." I've had a few bad experiences with hairstylists and haven't trusted them since. Besides, a lot of hairstylists are hostile to going natural like there is something wrong with black women wearing their natural hair texture. I just did research on the internet and watched YouTube videos for advice. I hope TKM's recommendation works out for you.

Hello Tamela ,

I am new to San Antonio, but I have found one lady who is very good at natural/relaxed hair. The name of her shop is Sister Sabrina, and the email address is www.sistersabrina.com. I was able to schedule my appmt online and the great thing about her is that she doesn't overbook. She really took the time to listen to me and I was completely satisfied with her work. I do believe she will be able to help you decide what is best for your hair/what you want to achieve.
Hope this helps!

Does anyone know of a African American hair salon that does relaxers and short hair cuts?

i recently moved to San Antoinio and I am looking for a salon that is proficient with color and styling very fine hair. I do not have a relaxer and my hair is not difficult to smooth. I am open to possibilities of adding hair 4 more volume.

Sounds like we are pretty much in the same boat!! I'm a black female relocating very very soon and looking for an excellent hair salon that specialize in African American hair. I will be moving close to or in the Northwest side of town, but will be willing to travel a small distance for a wonderful salon. My hair is very easy to manage, healthy, and I use a relaxer....I don't have too but I do for convenience. My stylist here in Mississippi has been a heaven sent and hate to leave Kim. Looking for a great Hair Salon, ANY IDEAS?!! PLEASE SOMEONE HIT ME UP AND LET ME KNOW SOON. Will greatly appreciate it!!!
