Hey,

I'm a 20 year old college student at TCU. I have a job interview in San Antonio, so I booked a room at a hotel over the phone with my credit card, and they never asked for my age. Most of the hotels I've been to required customers to be at least 18 so I've never had a problem, but on hotels.com, it says I have to be 21 in order to check-in.

Has anyone experienced this problem before? Will I have a problem checking in?

Thanks.

You used your credit card and they accepted. I think you will be fine!

The age requirement varies for state to state. Here in Texas the minimum age is 18. Good luck with your interview!

While this is true, individual hotels can raise that limit if it chooses to.

If you call the hotel, you won't have to wonder about it.

Call the hotel. When I was 18, I booked a hotel online, paid and all. When I got there, they wouldn't let me get the room since I was underage.

Same as everyone else said, call and ask the hotel but also explain your situation. It may help. Good luck on both the hotel issue and interview.

"Underage" and yet we have 18yr olds potentially fighting and dying overseas in the military. You're an adult and unfortunately you weren't treated like one, what a shame.

Yep - much the same as the 21 drinking age....sorry, but IMO if you're old enough to serve, you're old enough to BE served.

But back OT....these ARE private entities, and as such have the right to impose certain reasonable restrictions. Unfortunately, many young folks have destroyed hotel rooms, caused all kinds of grief to other guests, etc. - so often hotels will simply impose age restrictions to decrease the odds of having problems.

OP, as suggested - call 'em and be sure there won't be problems. If they indicate there's an age restriction, keep your cool and speak w/a manager. Be understanding of where THEY are coming from, and you'll greatly increase the odds of them granting an exception!
