I don't think I've ever had any around here this late in the year, but 3 or 4 are coming to my yard lately. I even put my feeder back up for them. Isn't this unusual?

I watched diligently- but have not seen any for about 1 month. What part of the city are you in, please. I would put mine back up if I thought there were any around...

I don't live in the city. I live out near the Lakehills area, west of S.A. It's been a week since I first noticed one was here. Before that, I hadn't see any for weeks!

I live near north downtown and still see them. My yard went back into bloom with Wisteria and Hibiscus and they are hanging around.

I spoke with a lady in Pipe Creek a little while ago and they are seeing a hummingbird coming to their place recently also.

Have kept the feeders up and still occasionally am seeing Rufous hummingbirds (have never seen one until this year). The owner of the bird seed store in Boerne (can't remember name) said that some of the Rufous hummers have taken to wintering around here.

Interesting...I looked up info on the Rufous and there's been much more reports of people seeing them in recent years in most states along the gulf. Sounds like it could be expanding its wintering range. It's considered fairly cold hardy, so the possible problem around here would be the available flower nectar if hard freezes happen. But if enough feeders are kept going during the winter, that would help them.
