Retama nears casino deal - San Antonio Express-News

To use a racing analogy, Retama Park looks like an also-ran.
The horse track hasn't turned a profit since it was founded, even after a trip through bankruptcy court in the late 1990s.
It's had to borrow money to stay afloat. It's avoided possible foreclosure by striking deals with bondholders. And it's failed multiple times to bring slot machines to the Selma track.
If Retama Park were any other business, it likely would've been put out to pasture by now.
Yet it has hung on, betting that it can one day add slots and possibly other casino games to subsidize its racing business.
Track officials said Tuesday they expect this week to have a term sheet that outlines the conditions of a deal for a casino company to take an ownership stake in the track.

The article doesn't mention anything about having slot machines as part of his deal.

Anything right now is better than nothing. Hopefully our wonderful presidential candidate governor doesn't shoot it down especially since he is so proud of our Texas economy. This is the last hope for Ratama to succeed but I wouldn't bet on it.
