I can't believe that they waited until the first day of school to start new construction in front of Taft.

You know, this project was supposed to start Jan 06. If that would of happened, then this thread would be old and buried on CD by now!

BTW, TX Dot announced that they are cutting 3 of the 4 road widening projects (one of them on I10 out to Loop 1604) due to highly-inflated road construction costs and lack of money. Some more "Toll Road Conspiracy?"

This one caught me by surprise yesterday, I wish I knew of a better way into AR besides the Culebra or 1604 entrance.

Have you tried Roft Road (just West of Taft High School)? It is the two-lane road that goes to the church and the shooting range. It has been extended into Alamo Ranch (DR Horton area) on the far West side.

The problem is getting across 1604 from 151 to the entrances...

I think you are out of luck, unless you want to go way out Talley Road and then come back, but that would be a LONG way out of your way. oh wait...... maybe you could stay on 1604 and turn left on Shanefield (sp??) go to 1560, hang a left and then go into AR. It might be worth a shot, it sure beats sitting in that traffic at Culebra for an hour. Good luck~
I found a new route home, I am going to try it this evening. Wish me luck.
