Default Ugly Wreck at Loop 1604 & Wiseman

I came up on a wreck at Loop 1604 and Wiseman road this morning. There were car parts scattered everywhere. It looked like the car that was hit just exploded.

I see this A LOT at that intersection.

Drivers are constantly running red lights on the southbound lanes. They misjudge the signal timing. And the signal light timing never seems right, so people try to beat the red. They turn from the wrong lanes.

What is it going to take to minimize the risks at that intersection?

This probably pisses some people off but at stop lights like that I don't move until I see that the other lanes are slowing down/stopping, probably a delay of a second or two but it makes all the difference.

Good idea. I'm teaching my son how to drive, and one thing I always tell him is, don't assume everyone else is going to do what they are supposed to. Look, and make damned sure someone isn't running the light...you just never know. Common sense.

Drivers around here are very unpredictable... so drive like the
unexpected is going to happen from the other guy at all times.

I come up on 4-way stops where I'm turning right. The guy
opposite comes to a stop with no signal but then proceeds
to turn left... again with no intention signaled

If you assume they are going straight ahead due to lack of
a signal a collision might be the result.

It is crazy... so I don't spend much time just driving around
down here for the fun of it. I drive only if I have to.

Drivers to stop treating red lights as suggestions.

I do this at every intersection. With people distracted with their phones, radios, cheeseburgers, and conversations with others in the car in addition to people not wanting to be inconvenienced by waiting 2 minutes at a red light; every intersection is an accident waiting to happen.
