I doubt it's texting. I think it's just lazy driving from folks who haven't lived in a city where defensive driving is the norm. Having grown up and learning to drive in downtown Chicago, you had to pay attention, get on a green light and go. If not, you'd get more than a few honks behind you.

I love using my horn in San Antonio. People here act like you're doing something wrong when you audibly correct them for not paying attention or doing something inherently idiotic.

Don't even get me started on the MANY in this city who can't seem to figure out the blinking yellow arrow turn lanes.

So you sit several car lengths behind? That's like saying the speed limit is 60 so I'm going to drive 50.

I give some space between me and the car ahead of me because I am now petrified of being hit from behind by some driver texting what he ate for breakfast. If I have room to move forward a bit, maybe the impact won't be so bad. I just refuse to die because someone had to tell the world... "Dude, just ate 5 brkfst burritos!"

I can't believe with all the drunks and other nonsense on the road you all are complaining about this. At this point if I see another driver actually STOP at the red light...and not do so for the sole purpose of guzzling his bottle of vodka....I'm ready to hand them a trophy for being the best darn driver in San Antonio.

The whole point of this thread and all other driving-related threads is "If you don't drive like me, then you are a bad driver".

The 50-something woman in the Range Rover that I saw last week, who was reading the smartphone in her left hand while driving south on 281 at 60 mph does not drive like me. I'll let you explain why she's not a bad driver, because I can't.

I can't. Is this coming from someone that is ok with texting at the stoplight? I hate it when people text at the red light because they are not paying attention.

Point is, everyone has a different opinion on what makes a bad driver or not.

I think people thnk that "no texting while driving" means "you can text if you're not in motion".

I see what you are saying but I have spent too many times behind someone with their head down obviously texting when the light turns green. If you are going to text at the light, at least holding the phone up and keep an eye on the light. I don't want to stay at the light longer because you have to text your buddies.
