San Antonio schools are ranked higher that the schools of Eagle Pass. The area of town you would be hunting in is not the best side of town San Antonio has to offer nor the worst.

Your quality of life will improve. I just moved here from a border town (Laredo) too and things are much better. There are tons of things more to do as far as families go. My suggestion is to make a weekend trip out here and take a look around, find a neighborhood you and your family will be happy with. Best of luck...

Schools will be alot better, Rent first before you decide to buy. That way you can find the area that best fits your needs. I would look for a house around NW san antonio 151/potranco/culebra road area.

Don't go to lucky ranch. I have a friend that lives close to that airforce base there, and he told me that they have a shooting range there. He can hear the shots day or night. The crime rate is higher there too. That's why I'm going to live close to alamo ranch. All the schools are new, and the area is safer. Look outside the 1604 loop, in the 78254 area. My daughter will be going to a great grammar school this year. Good luck.
