It is funny....they are building more houses (Monte Cristo) on the corner of Borgfeld and Blanco and some on Blanco, just north of Huebner but they can't seem to get a four lane highway thru there!!!!

I think the federal money cutback for roads in San Antonio cut that project. I remember seeing something a while back where that project was scrapped as well as the expansion of I-10 from huebner to 1604.

I think it is still in the works but will be another year (at a minimum) before anything starts happening.

There was a related story in the news last week. Once (or if) the 281 toll lanes go in, TXDOT will be prohibited in the contract with the toll operator from making improvements, including widening, to parallel roads like Blanco Road. The reason is that those improvements will reduce the toll operator's ability to recoup their investment in the toll road.

Not the case in San Antonio. Toll roads here will be operated by the Alamo Regional Mobility Authority, which has no legal right to impose those non-compete clauses on other agencies.

The project to widen Blanco north of 1604 has been let to contract and will start within a month or so.

This is info that was passed on to me from my MOMS Club last week -

"TXDOT has approved the plan to widen Blanco Road. The project will be 4 miles long starting where the road narrows to two lanes near 1604. The present plan calls for construction to begin on March 31 and take 18 months to complete.

Bexar county is covering the cost of construction but will be reimbursed by TXDOT. That is why TXDOT is involved in the approval process. After the bidding process is complete and a contractor is selected, TXDOT gets to approve the contractor so this could again delay the actual start date. "
