Wow. Sorry I didn't realize that. It was on the front somehow.

I am not expecting anything to change. We already paid our fine and the incident is closed.

We just want to share our experiences with readers so they know what to expect if this ever happens to them.

I hope to help others rather than criticize them.

No. He posted the same exact post twice and the software caught it, so one of the posts was deleted.

The rest of your post is off topic. It was discussing moderation, so it was deleted.

I love hearing the excuses people give when getting a citation. Many times I will give them the benefit of the doubt as the purpose behind our program is to educate the public and not revenue generation (despite what some people claim! ).

That said, a good attitude goes a long way to getting a warning instead of a citation and fine. I have yet to meet one officer that has done the latter after someone has yelled and argued with them.

But if it makes them feel better, than go for it; but also be aware that we can add notes to the back of the citation that the judge sees so when you go up before him/her in court your tirade may work against you!

People make mistakes, we all do and it's understandable; but accepting responsibility for them is what separates the adults from someone who just happens to be over the age of 18.

To the OP: The DPS has a computer database of all the inspections performed in the State of Texas. It's likely that the dispatcher verified the expired inspection when they ran your license plate.

As far as communicating the facts of the case to the court... I'd be willing to bet that the software on the in-car computer has a place where the officer can put information (that doesn't print on the ticket) that gets put into your case file for the prosecutor and/or judge to see.
