I have no leads for you, but I do wish you all the very best.

I will say in general that construction seems to be an industry that hires people with a past, as you say. If you have any skill in that area, you might consider that.

I remember hearing that "Staples" would receive funding if they would hire people who have past convictions. This was in New Jersey, but I thought it may apply system wide. You just need to go to a Staples and ask. Also Nationwide call centers might be another option if you get to speak with whoever interviews you and you are truthful and respectful and really sell yourself. I do kno of one young man who had served some time some years ago but has made enormous changes in his life and now works for Nationwide. Yes it is difficult but with perserverance you will find something. Wishing you the best.

Hmm...the last hospital I worked at had a few people who worked in clean up overnights that had records. Janitorial-like but they worked with biohazards as well. From what one of the ladies told me, she was making decent pay but the chance to make OT by working doubles, was crazy. Plus bennies and whatnot. So you may want to try there. In any case, good luck.

Do you have particular skills??? Are you only looking for work in general? There are help wanted signs for sure out there...two places that I KNOW help former convicts are "Lulu's" and "The Rib House" on 36th st. Might also want to check with those "in the know" for other those in your shoes for other potential jobs.

I know that lots of folks without "questionable" records that have difficult times finding jobs and find work in "untraditional" avenues, lawncare, odd job types.

After "googling" jobs for convicted felons in San Antonio, this is the result...might want to try it.

Hi! To find companies hiring felons in your area, go to Stats about all US cities - real estate, relocation info, house prices, home value estimator, recent sales, cost of living, crime, race, income, photos, education, maps, weather, houses, schools, neighborhoods, and more and find your local employment office. They should be able to put you on the right track to finding a job. I've also heard that United Way and the Salvation Army will employ those with felony records. Good luck!

I hope this helps. Please know you are not alone in this economy trying to find employment.

If you done any type of work since your release try to get letters of recommendations from past employers. It might help, and lets future employers see that you've changed and can show positive work habits. Make copies and attach with your applications. If you dont , all they see is that you have a record and no supporting documentation that you have made a turn for the better

I'm not sure if you are a Believer or not, but joining a church and being involved with that can open all sorts of doors. That might not help you right this second, but you might want to consider it for the future.
