This morning, like just about every other weekday morning, on I-10 inbound from the NW side, between Heubner and 410, I had to pass a guy on the right....again. There are signs about every 1/4 mile in that spot saying "LEFT LANE FOR PASSING ONLY KEEP RIGHT". This guy was going 50mph, in the left lane, with nobody in front of him for miles. He would not get over. Apparently he must think that due to his tax contributions, he has a stake in ownership of that particular stretch of road. Same thing every morning. I don't think the traffic issues in SATX stem from aggressive drivers, they stem from inconsiderate drivers.

...a beautiful tree with large leaves (I regret I don't know the type--maple perhaps?) with leaves scattered about like a blanket....

I saw a red convertible and a couple driving it who looked like they belonged in a Sundance catalog or in the '80s Out Run video game.

....from 151 and 410, a prodigious mass of dark clouds sailing overhead, determined, completely blocking out the piercing sun and darkening the sky as if someone had suddenly closed a curtain on us below. But no rain......yet (Wed evening around 6:30).

Last night, on my way home on I-10 westbound around 4:20 pm, just before where the ramps from 410 join the main lanes of 10, traffic slowed to a crawl. As I managed to get around the slow down, I spotted the cause. In the middle lane of the freeway, there was a 40-45 year old woman in a red convertible Suzuki Side Kick or similar, going 30 mph. No kidding....30 mph. This was because she was actually driving with her elbows as she was using BOTH HANDS to text on her cell phone. She was completely oblivious to any and all traffic around her. People like this should lose their license....period. The put so many other people at risk because they cannot wait to read/reply to a stupid text message.

I was dumbfounded. No other word for it. The woman was in the middle lane of I-10 west, going 30 mph. For clarity, she had both elbows on the steering wheel at 10 and 2, but had her arms fully extended out over the dash, texting away. Unbelievable.

I would have been honking at her until she sped up.
