So I know I have asked before what goes on at Camp Bullis as I sometimes hear "booms" in the middle of the night, usually between 1am - 2am...

Last night I heard the "booms" closer to 2am... It sounded like some night tactical type training or something... They were in the distance and nothing that kept me from falling asleep...

Then about 20 mins or so ago I heard the first of what has been 7, so far, "BOOMS" like I have NEVER heard before... Hubs says they have to be setting off bombs or something... Our windows and walls are shaking and rattling with each one... They are so LOUD!!!

I have no knowledge on this at all... Can someone who might know share their knowledge with me... Is this typical, that bombs are set off for training, were they old bombs laying around that they are setting off safety reasons or training???

In the 3.5 years we have lived here I have NEVER heard BOOMS like this coming from Camp Bullis before...

Thank you in advance for any insight...

***

edited to add --- 9 explosions in all so far... they sound like they are going off in our backyard they are so dang loud... Walls and windows shaking... One explosion was so loud even the pictures on our walls were shaking... This is insane!!!

My wife heard the same thing near FOR. Bullis does not have artillery or mortar impact areas, no large caliber weapons firing is possible. Trying to track down what it is. Was thinking possibly blasting near the new water treatment plant?

Will do. If it is coming from Bullis, the only thing I can think of would be demolition training or something similar, but it shook our house on the west side of FOR.

UPDATE: The blasts are controlled detonations being conducted on Camp Bullis. No update on length of time, or remaining number of shots. Will update if I get any additional information.

For clarification, controlled detonations are blasts conducted by Explosive Ordnance Disposal personnel to dispose of damaged or unserviceable ordnance (ammunition) or found unexploded ordnance.

Interesting! I wasn't at home, but it must've been pretty loud in FOR Elementary school....I'll have to ask my kids when they get home.
