Hummm...I don't KNOW who makes the best chili...that is one of those dishes most of us make at home so I don't think I have ordered out. IF Tip Top Cafe makes chili, I would bet money theirs is good. Not at all fancy, but been around forever and a GREAT place to have cooked from scratch food. Try their chicken fried steak too!

The only restaurant that I have had chili con carne is at Taco House. It is located at 6307 San Pedro. The dish is called Texas Chili. It is pretty spicy and authentic, but I would rather make it at home.

Not to distract you on your search, but I thought you might find this intersting since you are in search of Chili specifically...

The Best Chili Spots: In the Magazine : bonappetit.com

I know there are also Chili Competitions around the US...you should google and check it out. That is how we found out how to buy the VIP passes to the Memphis in May BBQ Competition (our passion!)

Now if you are looking for BBQ or Mexican food...you will get LOTS of responses to that request. Safe travels!

Texas Chili Parlor in Austin. Been there and it's good. Although I haven't had it in while, Jim's makes pretty good chili from what I remember. The meat looked like chunks of roast beef.

Try Luther's on N. Main. I haven't eaten it in a long time, but they have a reputation for excellent chili. I did eat their beef stew and had a burger and am planing to go back for chili.

The only place I have ever bought Chili in a restaurant was when my supervisor took us all to Fatso's on Bandera Road. It was good and the waiter told us that we took it all. About six of us. I grew up with Gebhardts chili in a can and Goas in a frozen brick. Mom would steam corn tortillas and tamales to eat with the chili.
