Off to see George ride away today! SOOOOOO EXCITED!!! Everyone attending, remember that there is NO parking at the Alamodome left to be had, so either make alternate parking plans, or take the park and ride...info on the Y-100 website if you need to know where the closest park and ride is to you!

I have done a "one-on-one" day with each granddaughter (ages 7 & 5). Here are my suggestions for your family.

Saturday, June 22, 2013. I took the 7 year old to Denman Park, then to dinner at one of my favorites, County Line (on I-10, my first visit was at the Riverwalk location). Thanks to my CD friend who took me to Denman Park (that's you, Al). I knew this granddaughter would love this place, as she is my artistic, nature loving granddaughter. The grounds have a house, a pond, an art structure gift from Korea, walking trails, one very friendly cat, ducks, ducklings, minnows, turtles, cranes, it is a true idyllic spot in the city (off of Fred. rd). It is the former home of a Judge, it now belongs to the city of SA. Lovely, lovely place. She and I spent 3 hours there, and she didn't want to leave. Nice place to walk your dog as well.

Yesterday, Saturday June 29, 2013. I took the 5 year old to Morgan's Wonderland, per her request, as I had taken her last year. Both times it was not busy at all. Of course yesterday we broke the heat record, but we spent time indoors and in the shade, we ended up staying 3 hours, from (our) start at 2:00 to closing time at 5:00. We then went to Denny's on I-10, new to both of us, as I had never been to this particular Denny's. She is now too familiar with Morgan's Wonderland to appreciate it again, and this venue is too young for the 7 year old, IMO.

I recommend both places to those who have kids in this age group or interest group. I thoroughly enjoyed both days with my granddaughters.
