It's beautiful right now! We drove to Corpus this past week and the roads are filled with beautiful flowers, especially the first 30 miles or so out of San Antonio. Lots of beautiful flowers in Austin as well. We'll definitely check out the loop, thanks for sharing!

Default San Antonio Bluebonnets

As of today, where are the best places to see them in San Antonio?

Jeez, I think lately the question is where are the not blooming!

After seeing them at the 151/1604 interchange this evening, I've come to the conclusion that you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a patch of bluebonnets this year!

Heck, NISD is even parking buses on top of them at their depot next to O'Connor High School!

If you really want to see 'em, just drive in most any area up on the NW side of town, they're all over the place up here!

Cheers! M2

Yeah, but I'm not crazy enough to park on the side of the highway to get pictures!

I did however go to McAlistar Park...they are in somewhat large numbers there.

We drove up to Ink's Lake State Park, over to Llano, and back down to Fredericksburg and they were absolutely stunning!

Yes, I recommend highway 16 around Llano to Fredericksburg and also the Willow City area. Probably best in the area.

Default Wildflower drives/viewing need recommendations

Thinking of driving along I10 east or 281 N this weekend to view wildflowers, anyone got any favorite routes for best wildflower viewing?

Last edited by BstYet2Be; 03-29-2012 at 05:48 AM.. Reason: merged thread w/existing wildflower/bluebonnet thread

35 S to about Pearsall is always good. There are some massive fields of 100-500 acres along the highway that are sometimes solid bluebonnets.
