Wow...three things caught my eye:

- San Antonio's reported average salary is on par with cities like Los Angeles and Chicago and higher than Philly, Miami, New Orleans.
- Austin is the 9th UNHAPPIEST city per same report
- Of the 4 largest cities in TX, we rank the highest. By far. Houston is 17, Dallas is 41 and see above for Austin.

Not too shaby!

Let the trashing begin....

This caught my eye...

"The CareerBliss data evaluates the key factors which affect work happiness, including: one’s relationship with their boss and co-workers, their work environment, job resources, compensation, growth opportunities, company culture, company reputation, their daily tasks, and job control over the work that they do on a daily basis. The data accounts for how an employee values each factor as well as how important that factor is to the employee’s overall happiness. Each review is given an average score indicating where the company places between one and five. All assessments are derived from January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2011. A total of 43,000 employee reviews were used for this report. A minimum of 50 employee reviews was required within each city to be considered for this data set."

- not a large sampling
- it is about work conditions and not the city

Quibbling.

SA is a great city to work in, and I for one am not only very happy with my job (I love it! ) but I also like the company I am working for and the people I work with!

Not ONLY is it a great city to work in...but it is a GREAT city to FIND work in. If you are REALLY willing to do SOMETHING, you can be employed in about 20 minutes in SA. Isn't it funny to see all the now hiring and help wanted signs in todays economy???? It might not be your forever and ever DREAM job, but you can earn a paycheck until you move to that one job EASY!!!

It clearly states it is about the working conditions at the company and
not the conditions of the city. Those are two very different issues.

I'm sure some would like to extrapolate from the survey that this makes
San Antonio a great place to live but great places to live was not the
subject of the survey.

How did they come up with an average salary of over 63k? Are they considering only salaried employees and not hourly employees? If you click on that number it takes you to a page that seems to contain contradicting info. I'm confused.

Sampling of 43,000 across that number of cities is insufficient
to provide anything conclusive other than those SA folks who
did reply to the survey being mostly satisfied with their employment conditions here.
