to the idiot 'leading' the highway patrol with flashing lights behind you last night around 6:30m east bound 410 starting around the 10 interchange .
pull over as soon as safely possible .
if you're in the far left/passing lane, don't continue driving for a half mile (with left blinker on) then switch to right blinker for another half mile while crossing lanes towards an exit and expect the officer to be in the most forgiving mood . if you hear those ''chirps'' he's getting agitated .

lost sight of this moron sometime after the jackson-keller exit .

I normally don't drive more than 5mph above the speed limit. I've found that most officers aren't going to waste their time pulling someone over who is going less than 5mph above the speed limit and it makes it easier to slow down when I do see a cop. I have a CDL, so probation and defensive driving are not an option for me. Also, if I get convicted of 3 traffic violations in two years, I'll lose my license.

I move out of the left lane when I'm not passing and if someone behind me is going faster. If I can't move over right away, you're just going to have to wait. At the hours and locations I drive, I still pass up 90% of traffic doing near the speed limit. I ALWAYS signal before I switch lanes or turn and I'm not one of those people who turn on their signal when they're already halfway in someone else's lane or a millisecond before they switch lanes. I also never text or talk on my cell phone while driving.
Oh, good gosh! I'm so sorry! Sleep deprivation really does affect one!

Here's the article, everybody!

One of the most interesting parts of the video for me was the "Speed Enforcement Ahead" diamond that they folded out onto the shoulder. I have never once seen that. Is it a Bexar County Constable thing or an SAPD thing?

I can't view the video at work, but from the looks of the still-capture on the site, it appears that one LEO hangs out on an overpass and pings drivers with laser. If a speeder is found, the LEO radios ahead and other LEOs do the job of pulling people over. If that's the case, drivers should indeed beware--very hard to spot this activity when you're doing speeds of 75-80+.

You aren't kidding about there being some crazy-ass drivers out there lately. I was leaving I-35 and segueying onto Loop 410 yesterday and some rageface douchebag in an old, battered up white pickup passed a slow-moving van in the right lane ON THE LEFT. (If you are unfamiliar with that ramp, it is sharply curved, and that means the pickup driver had to basically offroad through the grass.)

This wonderful example of patience and tolerance then swerved across all three lanes, nearly hit two other people, flipped them off and screamed at them with his head out the window, then disappeared down the Perrin Beitel exit.

Not to be mean-spirited, but that's the kind of guy I really hope wraps his little white truck around a concrete support pillar before he hurts or kills someone else, or costs them an assload of money.

As for myself, I tend to be a bit of a leadfoot, but I try to pace myself with the traffic around me. If traffic around me is going 80 mph, I'm going about the same speed...likewise if they're going 60.

I do not like people who speed outside of natural variation. They put other people in harm's way. It's fine if they want to kill themselves, but they don't have the right to take other folks with them.

That said, I also really despise roadway vigilantes that think it's totally okay to deliberately go the speed limit in the fast lane because 'people shouldn't be going over the speed limit anyway'. The natural speed drifts above and below the posted limit and most people recognize that.

Also, San Antonio, stop ****ing tailgating me. I'm serious.

if you think they tailgate around here, NEVER EVER drive in the tri-state (PA/NJ/DE) area .

The tailgaters really dont bother me. If I'm cruising in the middle lane or far right, going with the speed of traffic but really just cruising, they try to get me to go faster. I don't need to. I have more than enough time to get where I need to be and safely. But then I get the ricers and youngun's who try to pull up in their little modded out Civic, Focus, or Kia and try to pull beside me to try and catch my attention to test our cars HP. ( I drive a 2011 Mustang GT, moderately modded) I don't. My car is not a race car. And even if it was, I'll take it to the track and race for REAL. It's funny and scary at the same time. But what reall gets me is lack of blinkers, for anything. People here seem to either be scared of the turn signal or allergic to it's use or something. Jeez!

But yesterday made me kinda happy. I was heading up 410 in the left lane to catch up with traffic after merging from the ramp from I10 and I end up in front of a young looking kid in a Corvette. Apparently not happy with something, he proceeds to weave all through traffic, speeding up and barely missing clipping cars and got in front of me and slowed down to speed limit. Okay, that's cool. I'm not going to worry. So I merge over to a middle lane, set my cruise, and groove along to some Pandora. He pulls back to get side by side with me, reves up, I shook my finger at him in the "No" fashion, he flips me off and then speeds off going 90+ easy. Little did he know, we were in Castle Hills and PD there LOVE to keep an eye out for any fast car. I only know this because as I kept on keeping on, he was on the side of the road with a cruiser behind him. Too bad, soo sad.

HAHA!! Great story! I always see those cops hiding up on the 10/410 interchange with their lil gadgets catching folks left and right. I never worry because I do not speed. I have only had one speeding ticket in my life and I got it cause I was late for church. Cop didn't buy my story, but oh well. I usually blow a kiss and wave when I get honked at or flipped off.
