Question Travel to San Antonio

Hi !

First of all sorry for the mistake that I will make but the English is not my mother tongue.

With my boyfriend we go to the US in June for two weeks for a road trip (landing at Phoenix, visit some national forest, go to New Mexico (white Sands NP) go to the Texas (Big Bend NP) and finish our trip in San Antonio. But we don't know where is the best place to stay (hotel, restaurant, shopping...) I saw that there are many things to see as River Walk and restaurants, bar...

If you have some tips for us it will be welcome! And if you some advice for other place during our trip it would be nice too !

Thanks in advance,

Vans

Any of the major hotels downtown will do, Marriott Rivercenter is attached to the mall, Marriott Riverwalk and the Grand Hyatt are right accross the street. Hotel Contessa, Hillton Plaico de rio, Hyatt Regency, are all right in the center of the river walk, Crowne Plaza riverwallk; while technically is on the riverwalk is a few blocks from the night life. No matter what hotel you stay in down town you are going to have to pay a premium for parking 23-28 for self, 28-40 for valet

I always tell travelers to get a VIA pass for 2 or 3 or 7 days depending on how long you will be in SA. the #7 sightseer bus goes to all the highlights of tourist spots in the city. You can take the bus and it will drop yopu off anf pick you up to see things like the Japenese Tea Garden, Zoo, Witte Museum, Botanical Gardens. It runs from downtown and returns. there is also the Missions. The Alamo is the most famous mission, but not the most beautiful. There is a mission trail to follow to see each mission.
Afterall, the city was founded becasue of the missions and San Fernando Cathedral. There alot more to see than the riverwalk.
