Although these players get paid professional salaries I know most sports enthusiast would rather see a professional team especially during the playoffs like the Spurs. The fan base comes to life when the Spurs are in the playoffs . Can you imagine the N.E Patriots vs The Talons. Missions vs. NY Yankees, Rampage vs. Detroit Red Wings. Scorpions vs. Houston Dynamo. New Orleans is less than half the population of San Antonio yet they have a pro basketball and football team.

Pros:
FOOD! Good weather w/lots of sunshine, but the heat can become unbearable in the summer. Just stay indoors w/AC. Decent grocery store (the HEB). Some very hot Latinas straight from South America & Mexico - ay mami! Lots of people try to put on a friendly front, for a bit at least. Traffic aint all that bad. Generally relaxed/easygoing place.

Cons:
Quite a few (not all), but still quite a few - closed-minded people who can be arrogant for no good reason at all. Also smug & even fearful toward outsiders/new ppl, & most definitely highly resistant to change. I chalk a lot of this up to San Antonio being a military town in Texas. Ive lived here for nearly 3 years, moved down from Austin. Even some of the ppl from San Antonio who Ive met up in Austin have come across as smug, fearful & generally unfriendly for no good reason....kinda felt like "dude what's the issue here, take that spur outta your ass". Not a lot of cultural diversity - diversity here = Hispanic, and the city definitely caters towards this in an almost exclusionary/closed-minded fashion. Also the city is pretty divided in terms of race & $$$.

Pros
Too many to list but not being specific because I hate drawing attention to an already sprawling city.

Cons
Traffic, definately traffic but I have a great solution, If all the folks who dislike this city or more to the point, San Antonians and their narrow minded, uncultured, one direction ways moved away maybe the traffic wont be so bad.

I dislike (hate is too strong a word): it being more a city for families than for singles, how sprawled out everything is, the relative lack of healthy food/healthy culture, hispanic culture is predominant (no offense, it's just not my favorite), people rave about the countryside but I think the scrub brush foliage that occurs naturally here is ugly, professional jobs are clustered in certain industries/certain employers, the weather varies wildly at the drop of a hat, the HEB grocery monopoly

From that it probably seems like I hate the place, but I don't. I'm mostly neutral about it.
If there is no offense about the Hispanic culture why mention it? In Arizona Hispanics are profiled thanks to your Governor. Why does the Hispanic culture bother people so much? and when you say no offense we are supposed to be so ever forgiving of your inconveniences that the rest of country is not predominately your race and culture. Neutral? what an understatement.

I don't think people mean offense when they mention it. They mean they feel left out, not a part of. In other words not everyone can blend well, in areas that have a dominant culture. I mean really that should be understandable. Do you think someone that doesn't speak Spanish or is Hispanic, is really going to feel a part of South Florida. It's the same in San Antonio. It's not an insult its reality. Would you feel comfortable up here, in the Irish dominated neighborhoods in the Boston area. Most likely not, and I and many others would understand why. It would be a foreign culture to you, and you would feel out of place. I doubt anyone would be insulted either and how could they be.

Love: low cost of living compared to other large cities.

close proximity to the Gulf Coast.

this city has a small town feel.

Hate: the brutally hot/humid summers.

the mayor's left leaning politics.

I have no problem with the Hispanic culture in general, what I don't like is the so called high class money hungry Hispanic culture that think they are all that. Plenty of them on the north west side in particular.
