This may be true, but it still doesn't stop me from wanting it.

Café Express. They are in Austin, Dallas, and Houston but of course not San Antonio.

Cafe Express | freshness and flavor | chef Robert Del Grande one of the "inventors" of modern Southwestern cuisine

More "main street" atmosphere. I don't want to have to drive to helotes or boerne to get that.

Great stuff, carvel has a store in SA about 6 years ago. It was on broadway where tootie pie is now, it was a shame it closed within 6 months. Went there a handful of times and the ice cream was awesome.

I remember that store with fondness. Wish they would come back! Would love to see a Shakey's Pizza open up.

Ah yes, Fudgie the Whale! *queue Hartford Whalers theme* Potbelly's is a fantastic sandwich chain.

I agree on more parks. I have lived in Minneapolis where there are urban parks and bike trails everywhere. There is a park system there, it's all interconnected, and it is the city's pride and joy. It might get people out and moving around more!

Shakey's Pizza, yes. I have fond childhood memories of the one on San Pedro. I don't recall if there were others around town. But anyway, I remember my parents taking me and my younger brother to Shakey's every Friday night for lots of great pizza and fun. I used to look forward to Friday nights so much back then just because it meant that it was Shakey's night. It was a sad day in San Antonio when they were eventually shut down. It would be great to see that particular pizza place return.
