Default Neighborhood Parking Enforcement

I've had two co-workers tell me that they've had increased parking enforcement in their neighborhoods for such violations as parking against the flow of traffic and vehicles blocking the sidewalk.

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, or if it was localized to certain sub-divisions due to complaints, etc.

Cheers! M2

I haven't noticed it in Westcreek but it sure wouldn't bother me if they did it.
There are at least 7 cars on my street alone that park on or across the sidewalk. Yes, I said on, as in they pull alongside the curb, then up and onto the sidewalk.

It bothers me because we have to go out into the street when we go for our walk. I'd much rather keep myself, my wife and my three young children on the sidewalk. After all, that's what it's there for.

Almost daily a neighbor's college age daughter parks her brand new Mazda3 against the flow of traffic.

The parking in the direction of the flow of traffic law is...

Quote:
§545.303 ADDITIONAL PARKING REGULATIONS. (a) An operator who stops or parks on a two-way roadway shall do so with the right-hand wheels of the vehicle parallel to and within 18 inches of the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway.
(b) An operator who stops or parks on a one-way roadway shall stop or park the vehicle parallel to the curb or edge of the roadway in the direction of authorized traffic movement with the right-hand wheels within 18 inches of the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway or the left-hand wheels within 18 inches of the left-hand curb or edge of the roadway. This subsection does not apply where a local ordinance otherwise regulates stopping or parking on the one-way roadway.Acts 1995, 74th Leg., ch. 165, § 1, eff. Sept. 1, 1995. Amended by Acts 1999, 76th Leg., ch. 814, § 2, eff. June 18, 1999.
And for the sidewalks...

Quote:
§545.302. STOPPING, STANDING, OR PARKING PROHIBITED IN CERTAIN PLACES.
(a) An operator may not stop, stand, or park a vehicle:
[b](2) on a sidewalk;
(Source = Texas Transportation Code)

Cheers! M2

I wish. Even if I'm guilty of the crime too. Is there a law about a car remaining in one spot on the curb for a certain amount of time? There's one truck across the street that just doesn't move at all...and they have room in the driveway. I just don't get it.

What gets me is that I am the one that has to avoid their car when I back out of my garage. Almost every time. My car is never parked on the street.

I had a neighbor that worked for Time Warner and he would bring home this huge work truck every night and park it on the street. It made backing out of my driveway a pain in the a@#
