Hello all,

I've collected quite a bit of recyclables over the summer and I'm tired of the clutter, so I need to get them out of my place. I've done some internet searching and read about the curbside recycling, but the problem is that I live in an apartment and I haven't seen/heard any signs of a drop off point here in my complex.

My question is whether there are places where I can take the stuff to just drop it off into a bin on my own or something similar. In Lubbock, my home of four years (college), there were several drop off points at supermarkets etc. I know drop off centers exist, but sources seem to imply they're mainly for the things that aren't allowed curbside (furniture, motor oil etc.). All my stuff is conventional: cardboard, paper, plastic, glass, metal.

Are there any places in the USAA area where I can take this stuff on my own and drop it off? Thanks, and sorry for the rambling post!

I know you can drop off paper goods (junk mail, magazines, paper, etc) at the drop locations that are located in the school parking lots. Not sure about the plastic, glass, cans, etc. We are able to do curbside every Monday. Maybe call city sanitation and see if they have a place to drop off?

I also ran into this dilema when we moved here. I live near Seaworld, and the closest recycling center I could find was on Probandt, just south of downtown.

Also try looking here: Recycling - San Antonio, Texas

Also look at the San Antonio.gov site and then under services and then trash and/or recycling. They have some very good programs.

Call 311. They might be able to tell you where you can take your reclyclables.

What is 311? Will I be charged for the service? Do I need to dial 210 beforehand?

311 is a city information line. You can call it to find out many things like when will garbage pickup be due to a holiday etc. There is no charge. If it is a local call you just dial 311. If you are out of town you can probably call San Antonio Information 1411 and get connected.

Thanks, SnappyBob. I got busy and distracted and hadn't checked this in a while, but that looks like it will help. Now all the recyclables are taking up a large chunk of my living room
