Just wondering how often they're seen.

I really don't see too many of them around. Just the normal places you'd expect them. The only place I've walked up to that I had to go back to my car was the Rackspace offices when I went for a tour.

Not too often, this website has many of them listed...

Texas3006.com - Your 30.06 Information Resource - Home

And unless the sign meets the state's requirements (must read exactly as the law prescribes (http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administration/crime_records/chl/chlssign.htm - broken link)...

Quote:
PROHIBITING HANDGUNS IN A BUSINESS OR OTHER ENTITY
"PURSUANT TO SECTION 30.06, PENAL CODE (TRESPASS BY HOLDER OF A LICENSE TO CARRY A CONCEALED HANDGUN) A PERSON LICENSED UNDER SUBCHAPTER H, CHAPTER 411, GOVERNMENT CODE (CONCEALED HANDGUN LAW), MAY NOT ENTER THIS PROPERTY WITH A CONCEALED HANDGUN."

"CONFORME A LA SECCIÓN 30.06 DEL CÔDIGO PENAL (TRASPASAR PORTANDO ARMAS DE FUEGO) PERSONAS CON LICENCIA BAJO DEL SUB-CAPITULO H, CAPITULO 411, CODIGO DE GOBIERNO (LEY DE PORTAR ARMAS), NO DEBEN ENTRAR A ESTA PROPIEDAD PORTANDO UN ARMA DE FUEGO."
...in both English and Spanish, be placed in an area visible to the public, and have 1" lettering that contrasts the background), it is not enforceable nor are any other variations (e.g. the red circle types with a pistol and a line through it).

Cheers! M2

It's funny. I was in the airport the other day (not carrying) and I noticed their signs on the front door weren't even legal.

If I see that sign; its a sign that store does not need/want my business. Ill give my business to some one else.

Does that mean you don't vote? You're not allowed to carry in a polling place. I had a poll worker inform me of this when he thought I was carrying.

Really? I've carried openly in my local Target with no problem. I'm surprised that Target wouldn't have some kind of nationwide policy.

Are they posted or otherwise specifically proscribed in law? The people at the polls are volunteers, not professionals... I wouldn't put much stock in what they have to say without double-checking.

Here in VA, the only reason I can't carry to the polls is they have 'em (at least mine) in schools.
