Am thinking of moving up to Medium Format, but given the price tag I'd really like to "try before I buy". Anywhere in SA or Austin y'all can recommend?

Sorry I can't answer your question, but it's nice seeing someone still interested in real film. You trying a 120? That was always one of my favorites back when I was a photographer in the Navy. We even had a couple Mamiyas and some Bronicas (for aerial) and my favorite, a Pentax 6x7.

Never been to Precision. But CameraEx does rent some gear just Nikon/Canon bodies and glass though.
On that note, I almost bought a Hasselblad 500 cm from a guy in Austin for $500. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it out there in time before he found a buyer
