I see them everywhere and I have since I grew up here. They are delicious.

I just have no idea what type of plant/fruit this is.

Chinese plums....and yes, they are good. When I was a kid a neighbor had several of those trees and we would pig out on the plums. Unknown to our parents, the leaves when dried made for some mighty good cigarettes too. It's a wonder I lived!

They're also called loquats.

I've seen the trees for sale at the HEB garden center but they're not cheap. I've been wishing for one.

My neighbor has a huge tree with this fruit by the fence line. I had no idea what it was until reading this thread.

The fruit always falls into my yard and little trees come up as a result. I chop them down.

Default Chinese Plum,

At least that is what I know them as. Try locally grown figs also , the best fresh fruit I've ever tasted. Hill country peaches make the best cobbler of any, in my opinion.
