I agree. I think it's obvious to anyone who looks at the AlamoDome and how much time it spends sitting there empty, that it was "Cisneros' Folly". I know he's worshipped as a saint in this town, but the building just sits there with no sports team occupying it, and hosts the occasional monster truck jam or whatever.
Maybe we could tear it down, and build a baseball stadium?

Alamodome is the home of the San Antonio Talons as well as UTSA Roadrunners.

Well I'm glad they recently found someone to use the facility.

Baseball = classy, family event to attend on a regular basis. Fun for kids.

casino = deepens the city's poverty, raises crime rates. Mostly crappy service jobs added to city, which people love to complain about here. Keep the casinos in Louisiana.

The argument can be made for either belief on the Alamodome. Some say success some say total failure. It's pretty much a moot point now. The thing has been built. Tearing it down now wouldn't be a good idea now because you'd end up leaving the burgeoning UTSA Roadrunners football program with no place to call home. And secondly you would eliminate all hope of ever getting an NFL team here by scrapping the only place in the region that could house a team. At least until a better dome is built.

Again big town, small town thinking. This had to be a big bone head thing Henry did when he was mayor, a friend who lived in Denver once showed me an article from 1988 that they were looking for a baseball team there and they got one 5 years later. Why did our brain trusts not see that, again poor planning.
