huh?

I've always despised that saying. In essence, saying that respect is earned is the same as saying I meet you with suspicion until you prove yourself worthy otherwise. I choose the exact opposite.

She had no blinker on and gave no indication she wanted the space. I was closer to the space, but would have gladly given it up had I known she wanted it. I'd rather make someone smile than even inadvertently anger them.

My point here is that the woman might not have had any clue that he had wanted the space. The woman in my case probably mistook the fact I swooped into the spot (signaled first) as a sign I was "stealing" it. Either way, the male involved shamed himself and his parents in one fell swoop. If he was mistaken in the matter (judgement calls don't seem to be his strength), then all the worse.

As IntentionallyBlank pointed out above, when you decide to rage in public, you pay a price for such behaviour both mentally and physically. It's far better to defer to others in such petty matters. If I am driving and a squirrel runs out in front of me, I swerve or hit the brakes. They are creatures of impulse and instinct, but not reason. Pretty much where some folks are rooted these days, I will admit. When you lower yourself to another's level then they've won by dragging you down with them. Additionally, if I were to get out of my vehicle and rage at that squirrel, then I'd be quite rightly labelled a nut. Well, you know what a nut is? It's squirrel bait. You attract in life what you put out.

It's completely mandatory at any walmart unless you find door dings add "character".

Default Michiganian Transplant ,

I too, have noticed these people circling parking lots in their cars, searching for as close of a spot to park as
they can find to the store front. Ever notice the very heavy ones using the motorized electric carts inside the grocery store too ? Occasionally these same people are as inconsiderate in their carts as they are in the parking lot outside.
Can they be that lazy, really? I observe all of these people and find them amazing in a curious sort of way. Can't they stop this self-destructive behavior? With their carts full of junk food and sodas ?
I always, park at the outside perimeter of where all else are parked to avoid damaging the body of my vehicle from car doors opening. It works. I don't enjoy squeezing into a parking space.. anyway.

Jeez, I see people circling, circling, circling, and then waiting an unusually long time just for a parking space "up close". Park already, by the time you waste time circling, looking and waiting, you could have been in and out. That guy is a total jerk.

I always park at the rear of the parking lot and walk in. First, I never have a problem
getting a parking space, and two, my car is much less likely to be dinged by another
car.

With the price of gas, people waste money driving around a lot looking for a closer
spot. My husband even looks for a closer spot and I have asked him why he does
not park further out.
