Salado Creek is home to snakes but one that big would have made us turn tail. Recently there have been plenty of small frogs and just a few small snakes dead near the Salado.

This is the first year I've seen snakes along the Salado Trails near Hardberger park.... three years I've been walking it and haven't seen anything until this year! Yikes! They were small though. ::whew::

To the OP, a better description would help. flat black, beige, green, bluish black, white belly, approx diameter, and the obvious one - rattle?

I hate this time of year - the hot, snakey time! Why oh why are snakes so scary?? We live in the country and have only seen one small grass snake in three years. I am fearful this is the year for something more substantial. And two scorpions in the sink this week, oh woe is me! Why do I have to be such a chicken?!

City folks ? I'm in the city , I don't expect to bump into anaconda

bottom was lighter(much lighter than top) , could be white but not sure
the top was like brownish or dark greenish changing to lighter version of that color every 6-7 inches (tiger like)
dunno about rattling , it was just passing the jogging/bicycle trail when I saw it did not disturb it or anything, waited it out and went on my way

next time I'll take camera with me, but now when I think of it , I may run the other way

I

Did it look like any of these?

Snake Removal - How to Get Rid of Snakes - Snake Trap, Repellent, Control Services

I jog at Eisenhower Park. Have seen two Rattlesnakes, a Rough Green Snake, and a Black-Necked Garter in the past two months. I got within 10 feet of one of the rattlesnakes before I noticed. I stopped and we checked each other out and he casually turned around and went off the trail.
