I was taking my son to soccer practice last night and 6-8 motorcycle cops were pulling over everyone who drove on the shoulder of the northbound access road to get to the turnaround.

With all the extra traffic now at that intersection, it can get backed up very far from the light. No wonder people are going off the road to get to the turnaround. Here is a suggestion: why not add some pavement to extend the turnaround lane say a couple more blocks?

ha ha, they did it again? I saw this same thing about a month ago and they were picking them off left and right. I think about as fast as they could write tickets was the amount they pulled over.. my daughter thought it was rude though..

WOW~ I was wondering if that intersection was still a mess. I haven't driven that way since that first Tuesday when they closed the left turn lane (a month ago). And yes, I was one of those who used the dirt to get to the turnaround lane
oops.
My husband said that yesterday around 4:00 the lights at Bandera and 1604 were blinking. He got through early, I hope they got them back on before the real rush hour. What a mess.

This doesn't sound like a "sting" to me. It sounds to me like the cops were giving tickets to people for driving where they should not be driving. It's probably been going on there for a while and the police just decided it was time to remind everyone that just because traffic is conjested, your in a hurry and you have no patients: you can't just go around, under or over anybody or anything that might be in your way. If you live, work or play in a conjested area just give yourself some extra time, be patient and deal with it. You'll get there when you get there.

ahhh, that explains the strange traffic on Bandera and 1604 yesterday at around 4:00 PM.. I was luckily pulling out of Bandera Point and did the turnaround to go south. The broken light actually worked in my favor.
and I believe the police are probably responding to complaints.. One of the good things this police chief seems does is listen to the community. I may not like everything about him, but I find that a definite positive for sure. I'm also guessing this won't stop anytime soon either, so people might want to follow SnappyBob's advise there and give yourself some more time. I'm sure they've made a ton of money off those tickets and it was easy for them to pull pretty much everyone over.. I was once again fortunate enough to be going the other way from where the traffic/cops were
