Cooper's BBQ is some of the best I've had.

Although not German, still great - Huisache Grill, Gristmill. Naeglins (spelling?) is a German bakery. Quite simply just go downtown NB or go to Gruene and walk around.

Friesenhaus is 'bout as "good German" as as Jack in the Box is a good burger joint IMO. If I HAD to eat German in NB, it'd be Oma's - but I'd prefer either the li'l German restaurant off of 78 in SA, or Friedhelms up in Fredericksburg.

Depending on price point, Myron's, McAdoo's - Dixie Grille (actually in Seguin), Blake's (in McQueeney), Cooper's is pretty good.

Just want to say....We ate at Oma's Haus today and it was delicious.
I had the Chicken Schnitzel. It was so tender I could cut it with my fork and it was very tasty. I also saw a few other things I want to try on our next visit.
Thank you for the great recommendation. You were right on!

Glad you enjoyed it! As I'm 4th generation German, I can still remember the meals of my own grandmothers, both of whom were "old school", and could put together a meal truly fit for any German home, so I'm pretty picky!

There used to be a restaurant in New Bruansfels named Krause's. They had the best fried chicken ever. You could get "pannas" and all sorts of good German dishes ready to go (fresh sausages, cheese - yum) . I sure would like the recipe for the fried chicken. Never have had it like that again anywhere.
