Good Evening-
I'll send an email to the HOA /BOD after this post. We I get there reply I'll let you all know the scoop.
As far as a Neighborhood Pickup Day I called Tiger Sanitation who informed me most neighborhoods select a 30 cu. ft. Dumpster that can hold 5 tons.
Prices are as follows $ 100.00 Delivery Fee
$ 350.00 For the use, pick up, and dumping.
Almost anything can be disposed of except Tires, Hazardous Waste (Paint, Chemicals, Car Batteries) Any Appliance (if you dump a Refrigerator all refrigerant has to be removed by a Prof. who tags the item)
Brush, Fence Board, Furniture, etc can also be disposed of.
*For every Ton over the 5 there is a $35.00 charge. The dumpster can be dropped off on a Friday and picked up Sat. around 3:00pm . Of course someone wil have to volunteer (myself and hopefully a couple of others) to verify proof of residency.
For Household Hazardous Waste you can call Curbside Inc. at 1.800.449.7587 .We can have one curbside pickup a year and there is no fee. After calling you will be sent information and disposal bags.
So far what do you all think?

[quote=wellguy;10307664]Good Evening All,
I thought I had better get some information about Dumpster Sizes, Prices etc. before I approached the HOA and BOD with the idea of a Neighborhood Disposal Day.
I just sent two emails. One concerning the Large Roll Off Dumpsters to include prices and the other to a company that picks up Household Hazardous Waste. As you may know Bexar County works with a company to provide this service. We can arrange door to door pickup but I think a central location would be better.
Great Idea! Since you know all the details and have this information; maybe you should volunteer to head it up . Maybe then, we'll have more of a chance getting something like this started . With the folks in City limits - isn't the junk day pick-up paid through a fee in their SA utility bill? How would we keep people from putting mattresses and other un-wanted trash in there? We may end up with surrounding neighborhoods trying to dump in there as well....

Sounds like a great idea and a great way to constructively spend some HOA money.
Part two of this is that you should write an article for the newletter especially to let everyone know about the hazardous waste info!

I think the dumpster idea is a good one, but it could be too good of an idea.. I've seen some garages around here and I know people have a LOT of junk. I also know my wife would have me filling up my truck at least a few times too. It could get really expensive, especially if people throw away major appliances. Maybe we could get a discount rate for a massive amount of dumpsters and also get a county subsidy since the city gets their days and we don't get jack. It's worth a try..
I still haven't made it to the office, but I absolutely have to tomorrow. For being so close, it's just not convenient at all for some reason.. I need to drop off a request to put a rail on my front porch, though.

Finally made it there and the word from them is that it is 100% our responsibility to get the fences repaired, so nobody is going to go around and fix it for you and bill you for it later. I was glad to hear that. I didn't ask about the tagging the fences thing, though, because I totally forgot about it. That should probably be saved for a meeting I think. They also had a flyer for a company that repairs fences there. The lady made it clear that they do not endorse them, so I guess they aren't getting any kickbacks on this one..

Good Evening Everyone,
I didn't have a chance to log on last night.
Mr. Severs did reply yesterday morning at 9:56am . Before I go any further I commend Mr. Severs for always responding when an email is sent. It is extremely rare the the HOA Staff ever replies.
Mr. Severs did say that the Idea Sounds Good. He asked if I had contacted any othe Companies which I did not. He did inform me if I had not he would ask the Office Staff to make some calls. It will also be brought up at the next BOD /HOA Meeting.
I assure you all that if this goes through I will guard the Dumspter to insure Non-Residents don't use it. *I know we are required to arrange our own garbage collection but the fellow from Tiger told me that this is a FREE Service to neighborhoods who use them exclusively.
I would not expect folks to switch to Tiger for this reason. I would like to see one Company one day each week instead of 3-4 trucks on different days. It would be less traffic, quieter, and the fact that our county streets would take less wear and tear.

I wanted to share some information with you all and which you may know something about. Yesterday evening our neighbor came over and told my wife that her Son's pickup had been broken into. Monday night - Tuesday morning. I have no idea of the damage or what, if anything was stolen. She also said that several other pickups in The Hollow were broken into. My personal pickup was not tampered with although my Radar Detector was on the floor board between the front seats. We Rarely use our outside lights.
Before I retired for the evening last night I went outside for some reason and saw for the first time a dark colored Tahoe? with a COPS Magnet on the door. If you all know that individual please Thank Him /Her for me.
Although this is not funny the outside lights were turned on last night but my 27 year old Stepson (visiting from Kansas) who was out a little late failed to shut the garage doors.
