They won't damage your suspension if you drive slow over them .
I live on Kingsbridge and would gladly pay to have them put in. I think Saxonhill should be the first street to get them though.

I'll differ with you on that one, especially if you have an extremely low to the ground car, like a Miata... car suspensions weren't made for those things and you basically have to come to a stop. but it's cool, just don't put them on Military, Westcreek Oaks, and Creek Knoll. They can put them every 20 feet on all the rest of the streets.

I agree, they are trouble for low cars. And it sucks that everyone has to suffer because of the actions of a few....with any big change, there will be those for and against...
Personally, I'm going "for" - only because my kids are scared to be on the sidewalk, let alone cross the street, because of the high number of idiot drivers that fly through our neighborhood. I almost got hit this morning backing out of my driveway. It's not a problem if they're doing the speed limit, because then we both have reaction time - but when you're doing 10-15+, I literally only have .5-1 second to throw it in drive and jump back into my driveway.
I watched a van this morning turn into Victorian Oaks so fast that his tires were squealing. Is it so necessary people?!? Sheesh....

gw - your street is really wide, too, so I'm sure that contributes to people speeding thru it ~ false sense of security. (You're welcome to throw rocks, bricks, whatever at my van if you ever see me speeding thru there! ) And while I agree about hating speed bumps (otherhalf has a Scion tC that's lowered so nearly everything scratches the ground effects), it seems there's sometimes no other option. Our subdivision had to put them in on one of the more major streets that the stupid parents of kids from that Joyland Christian Daycare were using as a cut thru. They'd haul balls thru the neighborhood at like 45-50. These are parents of little kids! Would they want us speeding thru their neighborhoods? Or do they even care? Chances are, that van you saw this morning turning into Victorian Oaks had just dropped off their kid at school, too. Yeesh.

It is sad that we have to institute control measures over something that people themselves should be responsible for. And it bothers me that everyone has to deal with it. BUT, risking lives is serious business, and the first one of those speeders that hits a kid...
Bexar County was out last week, and put up new signs for a deaf child on our street. I don't think it makes a difference to anyone, unfortunately. No one slows down.

Yep. Several weeks ago my kids, granddaughters, neighbor kids, and I were all out front playing. So were our neighbor's dog and our dog (yes, off the leashes ~ our fault). Some idiot (I can think of several other "titles" for him that aren't appropriate for the forum!) comes speeding down the street just as the two dogs are chasing each other across it. I watched (and screamed) as that a$$h0le's front tires hit the neighbor's dog and then the back tires ran over it. Jerk didn't stop at all, just kept going like nothing happened!! It was horrifying and bothers me still. That could've been a kid, had they not been on the lawn!
That was the day that I swore I was gonna start sitting out front and throwing bricks at speeders. But otherhalf wisely pointed out that then I'd be the one at fault. So I think I'll get a bunch of basketballs and throw them out there just in front of them so they hafta slam on their brakes. Then I'll politely inform them of the speed limit in the neighborhood (which at 30mph is still too high!).

No, unfortunately he didn't. We all petted him and the neighbors told him they loved him ~ everybody was crying. It was awful.

Warning
We have the same problem with Knobsby Way, mostly because we have direct access with Military. The speed limit is too high for the neighborhood all together but becareful about what measures you take to slow down crazy drivers. I use to have a "slow kids at play" sign out in front the house, that was until the county sheriff paid me a visit. (Thanks to a pissy neighbor who didn't like slowing down pass my house due to my kids playing in the street.)Turns out that my sign makes me liable for all accidents in front of my house. Yep thats right if someone should hit a kid or have any kind of accident in front of my house the sign makes me liable for it. I was shocked when he informed me of this and have since refrained from using it. After doing a little research, it turns out that vehicles have the right of way in SA, not pedestrians! This is the number 1 reason we are looking to move out of the Villages. This is hardly a family friendly neighborhood since keeping your kids safe means having them cooped up inside or in our postage stamp of yard!
