I agree that we have a lot of drivers who speed and drive erratically in general. I also think that there are more and more drivers who use WC to cut through to other main streets. So, I am wondering if it would be possible to have WC become a gated community? THAT would certainly cut down on the crazy traffic and such.
Anyone know if it's possible to gate a subdivision after it's built or does it have to be in effect during building??

IIRC, if we gate the community, then the roads become our responsibility, and fees become an issue. I don't remember the specifics on why, but it gets expensive. It was covered a few years back at one of the homeowner's meetings...

The Flair homes (the ones right next to the original park) used to be gated, but they removed the gates after a couple months. I heard something about WC not allowing it, but it also sticks the community with providing its own services

Yup - things like road maintenance, fire response, etc.

WC residents wouldn't vote for the extra cost of providing street lights, so maintaining roads would definitely not be approved.
BTW: How many WC people cut through Caracol Creek on way to Potranco? They probably say the same thing about us.

I did, but will probably stop now that I'm switching shifts at work. I'm sure the people that live there don't like it, but it's a good example of why people should think the home buying decision through thoroughly...
and that was the street I was talking about in an earlier post where a bonehead in a dodge ram pulled out in front of me and drove fast through the neighborhood, but slowed down when they got on Potranco. I drove slow through it because it was dark when I left for work and it's hard to see everything in there.

I've been in a couple of the homes when being built. Very small (including back yards) and not worth gating. BTW: I noticed that Lenar has just about finished the outer fencing on Westcreek View and Talley Road. IMO, Westcreek View looks barren with no median, trees or grass, just tall fences on both sides.

yes, that road is really strange, but ideal for the cop that hides there and got a coworker of mine twice for speeding...

Are you talking about that little 'street' across from the community center? I was talking to the folks in the office, and they said that he can get speeders from either direction, the stop sign runners, etc, from quite a distance while sitting on that street. Just a reminder, it's 20 mph in front of the park!!

I have to admit, 20 mph is hard for me by the park. (not saying I don't do it, I just tend to have to stomp on my brakes when I look down and see that I am going 25-30) Even with that, I notice that drivers tend to stack up behind me if it is busy.
I have been in the left lane at that intersection by the community center and had people drive around me in the right lane so they wouldn't have to stop.
