Ok... My response posts have been removed for containing too much personal information related to the actual facts... Not what Lockheed thinks he knows as demonstrated in his few recent posts...
That is fine, but since Lockheed's orginal post is still up where calls my experience into question....

Maybe that is why the "greenbelt" on Grosenbacher doesn't get mowed much as it is in the county.

I have trouble drawing your connection between the apartments at 1604 and Rustic Oaks with people not taking care of their yards in Westcreek. Westcreek did not control the land in both areas, so they couldn't do anything about it.

...I really don't like the new greenboro homes that are getting built as they are not 3 sides brick and waay to damn close together. I stopped by and complained to the HOA this afternoon, but it turns out that it meets the requirments in the guidelines due to lot size which explains the microsized lots. Oh, and the start at 180k base!...
|
Agree. Do these houses have any backyards? The lots are very small, and as you stated the price is too high!

Steel...
Regarding the apartments and Rustic... I don't feel that they have contributed to a demise in WC home conditions, but rather they do take away a lot from the overall quality feel of the area. In the 6yrs I've lived here, I've noticed that the graffiti has become much worse and the need for much more intrusive ID checks at the community center areas has arisen. The ID issue is in large part due to non WC residents trying to use WC recreation areas that we all pay for in our dues.
I'd also blame Walgreens from taking away from the clock tower entrance, but I do still shop there on occasion. I will point out that often I see groups of older teens to 20 somethings loitering around outside Walgreen's for no reason. While the assumption might be wrong, I often get the impression that they are coming over from the apartments because they have nothing better to do.
As for overall conditions of homes, I tend to blame mass aging of a 20+ yr neighborhood. While some folks step up and perform the needed upkeep of painting and trim replacement, many do not. Many also paint and then ask permission from the HOA after the fact. My old neighbors, painted their home terracotta orange leading the house to become known as the pumpkin house by the HOA. After much debate, the ARC decided orange was close enough to a earth tone and they did not force them to repaint. The same neighbors rarely mowed and did little to maintain their home. That was ~3yrs ago and I moved shortly thereafter.
Doh, and I meant county for the greenbelt mowing, not city... ; ) On Draybrook, we'd get infested by field rats every time they plowed the belt, so I'd almost rather they just fence those areas off from view and leave them alone. I'd love to plant a bunch of redtips in my current greenbelt for added privacy but everytime I've put something back there, the tractors plow it over.

If the county is not going to take care of it, then either pour cement where the weeds are or remove the divider entirely.
Speaking of road dividers, have you seen the two in Vistas of Westcreek? There is one on Birchwood Bay and another bigger one on Texas Mulberry. All you have is a little cement divider with two signs (one facing each way) telling you to go around them. What an eyesore and what was Centex thinking when they installed them?

Westcreek needs YOUR help!
Ok, bumping an old thread, but as my info pertains to the VofW, and this thread is named "Villages of Westcreek" it seemed suitable!
A quote from an email I received, regarding one of the upcoming events in Westcreek:
Quote:
All,
I still have not heard from anyone from the last email I sent out about the rummage sale and the Easter Egg Hunt.
So far we only have two people who have signed up to help with the 0-2 age group for the Easter Egg Hunt. We still need volunteers for the following age groups; 3-5, 6-8 and 9-10. We also need a volunteer to play the Easter Bunny. The bare minimum is two people per age group.
Please let me know as soon as possible. Remember Sandy and I are both unavailible to help that morning. If we don't get some people to step forward we will have to cancel this and disappoint a lot of children. If you have older children they can help also. Thanks.
Ken

Ken is one of the very few in our neighborhood that volunteers his time to help our events and such, and is in dire need of his fellow neighbors to also help out. We get lots of inquiries about the different events in the area, but no one wants to help get the events going! This is an excellent example - if we don't get enough volunteers, we're going to have to cancel the Egg Hunt!!
So please if you would like to help out, contact the office to get info on helping out, and please spread the word about the events to keep them successful. The entire neighborhood is riding on the backs of a handful of people and we need more support!

Count us in...I can provide 2 (maybe 3 if our 18 yr old son is not busy) adults...just say when and where and we will be there.
I have seen the signs driving on Military, but with no small kiddos, just have not paid attention to when or where.
I'll call the office now to see about it!
PS...Can you tell me WHERE Sips and More will be???? I CAN'T WAIT for them to open again...can't believe I did not discover the place until about 2 weeks before the closed at the old location!!! Hoping their hours might be extended a bit!

I'll let Ken know to expect a phone call!!
We finally got Stephanie and Darryl from Sips to agree to let the cat out of the bag! They're moving to the Texas Research Parkway, at Potranco and 211. Their new place is great, and we're very excited for them! They are currently working out the kinks in the contracts, as soon as that is done they'll open for business.

Ok, we just talked to Ken - here's the deal:
They need at least 2 volunteers per age group. There are 4 age groups, 0-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-10. They also need volunteers to play the Easter Bunny (in shifts) and help checking ID cards.
The event is free for Westcreek residents and their kids, if they bring children that do not live in Westcreek, it's only $1 per (extra) kid!
They need to get enough volunteers ASAP, or the event will be cancelled.
Westcreek calender is here. (broken link)
