These are only estimates as the last population census was in 2000 and the next one is in 2010. However, with all the people moving here, the estimates could be on the low side.

What does the Msa mean? I was confused by that. That number was greater than the Bexar County number, so I'm not sure what it includes.

And it's New Braunfels, not Braunsfels. But hey, you got Schertz right!

Haha my bad. Msa stands for Metropolitan Statistical Area. It includes a principle city and surrounding county's with strong economic ties. San Antonio Msa consist of the counties of Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Kendall, Medina, and Wilson.

The traffic proves that SA has about 1.4 million.

MSA stands for "Metropolitan Statistical Area", a term used by the census to describe a city's area of influence. In addition to Bexar county, SA's MSA includes Comal, Guadalupe, Wilson, Atascosa, Medina, Bandera, and Kendall counties. The populations of those seven counties are included in SA's total population figure, which is why the MSA number is larger than just Bexar county alone.

If these are January estimates and it's already end of September, it's pretty safe to say that SA is over 2 million population now

imthrowed94 is on a distinguished road
When th 2010 census numbers comes out if this city should have a population of over 1.4 million if we don't have an undercount. And out metro should be well ove two million by then. But with these estimate it would be interesting to to know what percetage African Americans, whites and asians make up those numbers.

Ryneone, those numbers are grossly under estimated, just off the top of my head, Schertz is was at 34,000 in March, Cibolo was at 10,000 last summer and expecting nearly 15,000 by next summer. The MSA for SA is over 2 million for 2007. Those honestly seem like 2006 numbers not 2007.

I tend to agree with you there, Insomniac. I was reading about Schertz being over 34,000 early this summer. Given that these are estimates from January, it seems unlikely that Schertz would've grown by 5,000 residents in just 4 or 5 months.

Most impressive to me are the growth of Cibolo and Selma. Both grew by between 200 and 300% between '00 and '07, and the Cibolo CC is estimating that they will easily be over 20k by the end of the decade.

I'm just excited that we are no longer living in the San Antonio, TX Metropolitan Statistical Area, as it is now the San Antonio-New Braunfels, TX Metropolitan Statistical Area (though it won't be official according to the US Census bureau until next year).

Oldman, not doubting you, I believe you but where did you hear that? The SA-NB MSA tidbit.
