Hello! I'm a recent college graduate moving to San Antonio to work for a nonprofit. I'm having quite a tough time finding an apartment that is close to downtown, in a reasonably safe area, and doesn't have abysmal ratings online or zero availability. I would be very appreciative of any suggestions as to places I might have missed in my search. Most of the places I've found that meet the above criteria are out of my price range ($900 or higher).

I've been looking primarily in the Alamo Heights area but am open to other suggestions. Thanks for any input you can provide!

Look in areas between downtown and Alamo Heights. Look in Tobin Hills, Monte Vista, my favorite Mahncke Park. You will find mostly privatly owned buildings and small complexes.
Check the newspaper ads on Sunday. There is more choice there than on-line.

You NEED to understand that there are areas of decay right upagainst the most expensive zip code in all of SA....if you shift just a little, you will be able to find what you need in close prox. You just can not expect to live in the '09 life style and location for $900 per month.

I know this is not what you want to hear, but SERIOUSLY trying to help you in an honest search of where to land and get the most bang for your buck.
